Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists work with families, teachers, and teacher aides to develop independent, functional movement for each student, and to preserve their health through activity and participation in the school community.
They focus on mobility, balance, strength, range of movement, posture, coordination, fitness, breathing/respiration and ability to access the environment.
Therapy includes approaches such as Bobath, MOVE (Mobility Opportunities via Education) programme and the Sherborne Developmental Movement Programme.
Physiotherapists are available to support students and their families at orthotic & orthopaedic appointments. The physiotherapists also support students in finding suitable access & mobility equipment.

Occupational Therapy

At Parkside, Occupational Therapists works to ensure that each student can participate in the full scope of school activities – from paying attention in class;  holding a pencil or musical instrument, managing their sensory needs; being independent with their self-cares; or being a friend. OT’s evaluate each student’s performance to find strategies for success for them. They look at the whole child, helping students find ways to do the things they need and want to do.
In addition, the Occupational Therapists support Teachers within the classroom to provide an optimum learning environment.
